“For the past two months.. Bear has come to me.

A constant symbol, eyes shimmering in the cold dark, watching me from the woods.

What’s she saying?

I’ve tried to follow her. To hear what she’s trying to tell me.

And it’s led to hours and hours meditating on this painting.. trying to bring her message into vision.

As I stare into her eyes, and she stares back..

I realize I’m painting a Mother.

A Mother in tune with the rhythms of life.

To my heart, she says..

I give birth from my dreams
In my sleep, in the cold.
It may seem like nothingness..
but from the deepest quiet, the greatest within..
Life stirs.
And is nourished by
Slow
Silent
Emerging.

Birth isn’t always hot, fast, and full of noise.

Sometimes birth is slow, cold, and impossible.. from a cave in the snow.

But this, too..
is part of the Dreaming.”
