The Human Nature Series

In May of 2023, Adrianne began concept work on a 10-series of oil paintings based on what she calls the “Human emotional and experiential wilderness”. She’d been dreaming up this project for several years, and took the opportunity of a fall deadline for an exhibition at Threyda gallery in Denver as the opportunity to create it.

This series of paintings is a visionary exploration of the human emotional wilderness: states we both personally and collectively experience in our time here on the Earth, and in relationship with the web of life. These 10 paintings are intended to be visionary reminders of what makes us most beautifully and vulnerably human.

Concept Phase

This series began with a concept development phase that involved poetry writing and sketch work. below are the preliminary sketches for the final paintings.

Final Works

The concept phase culminated in the execution of 10 finished works, all oil paint on wood panel, within 4 months.

The entire collection is on display at Threyda in Denver, opening night October 21st 2023. The works will be viewable for the duration of the exhibition, through the month of November.
